Getting started with your profile
Your profile is a place to show off your skills, experience, and more. Add items ranging from experience, education, and skills to projects, awards, and more.
When you first navigate to the profile page, you will be presented with the option to upload a resume. Your resume will be used to automatically populate your profile with items.
To add items manually, you can use the Profile Pallette, accessible on the Top Bar on your profile page.

Adding items to your profile
You can use the Profile Palette to add a littany of items to your profile. Items relevant to you will be recommended based on your selected job function and experience level, and other items can be added at any time. You can also search for relevant items to add.
Upon clicking an item in the profile palette (or clicking the
add button for a panel on your profile with existing items), you can create specific items.
Writing items in your profile
Based on your selected items, fields will be made available for you to enter, to provide detail to your profile's viewers. When you create a primary item, such as an experience, education, or project, you have the option to add summaries to each item to explain them in sufficient detail. With the writer, you have access to a full-featured editor to write your summaries. You can use the editor to add rich text, lists, hyperlinks, and more to your summaries.
Linking skills and strengths to your profile
You can add skills and strengths to your profile. With Novel, you can intelligently link your skills to relevant items on your profile, such as projects, experience, and education. This is particularly heplful for viewers of your profile, giving them contextual evidence of your skills. Link your skills to an item (such as an experience item) by hovering over it (or pressing the
icon on mobile devices) and pressing the
icon to open the properties panel.
Editing and deleting items
You can edit items by hovering over them (or pressing the
icon on mobile devices) and pressing the
button to edit the item. The editor works the same as the creator.
You can delete created items by pressing the
button. A confirmation dialog will appear, and you can press the
button again to confirm deletion.
Adding custom items
Selecting the "Additional" item at the bottom of your profile palette allows you to create custom items, where you define the type, the name, and a summary. This section allows you to add objects to your profile which don't fit into the other categories. Items you add here will be grouped together by the types you define.
Adding custom attributes
When you scroll to down on the profile page, you will see the a card marked "Additional Items". This allows you to add information to profiles not covered by the profile palette. You can add a secondary email address, a phone number, spoken languages, and more. You can also add custom attributes, which allow you to add any information you want to your profile.
Note: Some attributes you enter here could be sensitive information. As such, information here will not be linked to any specific edition, instead you'll be able to toggle these as displayable while creating sharing links.
